Please Note: The groups listed below take place at the WHFS Services located in Northbridge (Newcastle ST), Northbridge (Aberdeen ST), and Joondalup (Davidson Tce) respectively. Please confirm the location of your group before attending.

Group places may be limited; Bookings are required for all listed events and the crèche. The times and dates listed on this page are designed as a guideline, and may be subject to change

Activity Descriptions


AGFS Play Group

This group is for Aboriginal families and their young children. It features arts and crafts, sing-alongs, dress ups, fun outings and guest speakers.


Body Esteem

This 20-week recovery focused group offers support for women suffering from eating disorders, supports and assists women to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing and to make and sustain positive change. Buried in Treasures Workshop

A self-help workshop for women who struggle with hoarding behaviours.

Cert 1 & 2 in Leadership Development 

This course is run by Challenger TAFE for WHFS clients. The course covers employability skills, personal development and communication as well as First Aid; all shared in a supportive women-only environment.


Circle of Security (Joondalup & Northbridge)

This 8 week program help parents improve their relationship with their child and learn how to understand and manage their child’s behaviour.


Coffee Morning (AOD, KIF & AGFS Programs)

Clients from the Aboriginal Grandparents and Family Support Program and Alcohol and Other Drug Service clients are welcome to come have a coffee and a chat. Various art and craft activities will also be available.


Coffee Morning (Mental Health)

This program, for women with a mental illness caring for dependent children, aims to build inner strength & develop an understanding of emotion through art.


Computer Class - WHFS Clients Only

This group is for women seeking to learn computer skills for work or study. 


Craft Group (Joondalup)

This free group allows women to come together, share skills and work as a collective on projects. All materials are paid for through the sale craft projects. Contact WHFS Joondalup for more information on (08) 9300 1566. 



This is a therapy program for children based on rhythm and experiential learning. It uses cognitive behavioural therapy to engage young people and adults who may be resistant to discussion-focussed therapy.


English Class - WHFS Clients Only

This group is for women who want to improve their spoken and written English skills, for work or study purposes.


First Aid Course

This Worksafe WA recommended workplace Certification runs over 3 sessions with a total of 16 hours contact. It covers the fundamental emergency first aid response for both the workplace, and typical outdoor setting first aid scenarios specific to Adults, Children and infants.


Get Off / Stay Off 

This group for women aims to strengthen motivation to overcome drug and alcohol issues.


Job Club - WHFS Clients Only

This group assists women to develop their job-seeking skills, including providing help with practice interviews, and access to computers for online applications.


Making Sense of Motherhood (Joondalup)

A support group for women recovering from postnatal depression and anxiety, where mother and baby can focus on attachment and bonding. Contact WHFS Joondalup for more information on (08) 9300 1566.


Mental Health Art Therapy

This program, for women with a mental illness caring for dependent children, aims to build inner strength & develop an understanding of emotion through art.


Minding our Moods

This 7 week program aims to help us acknowledge and accept our emotions, identify what triggers troubling emotions and explore how we can better mind our moods.


Moving on Program

This program, available only to existing WHFS clients, assists women in preparing themselves for future employment and education. Graduates of this program are able to join the Women Helping Women for continued support.


Power to Change

This program provides education and support in addressing the loss of confidence and self-esteem of women who have been in abusive relationship


Walking Group (Joondalup)

This free group takes place at various locations across the North Metro area. New Members are welcome. Contact WHFS Joondalup for more information on (08) 9300 1566.


Women Helping Women

This support group follows on from the Power to Change Program.
