Ethnicity Data Collection Tool
Dr. Anne Aly and Gavin Currie

Equal service is not about giving people the same service, it is about them receiving a comparable service and, as far as possible, equal outcomes; By recording ethnicity data, we can ensure that we provide an appropriate and accessible service for the whole of the community.

The Ethnicity Questionnaire was developed:

  • To discuss the ways in which data collection informs your service delivery
  • To build awareness and appreciation of the need to collect ethnic group data
  • To identify the most useful data for your service delivery
  • To identify issues with ethnicity data collection
  • To inform the development of an ethnic data collection tool that will be most useful and easy to use

Trauma-Informed Treatment Guide for Working with Women with Alcohol and Other Drug Issues
Ali Marsh, Tania Towers and Stephanie O’Toole

The manual is for service providers working with women experiencing AOD and mental health issues. The manual covers a wide range of topics ranging from assessment and screening to case formulation to the neurobiology of trauma. The manual takes a very practical approach with a “Tip Sheet” at the end of each chapter and a number of useful appendices, including: Information sheets for clients on a range of topics; Information for workers to consider when confronting a number of issues such as domestic violence and creating a safety plan with a woman; and Assessment tools.

Whether service providers are working with women in a gender specific service or program or seeing women as part of a mainstream service, the manual will be a helpful resource.

A two day training package is also in development and will be rolled out from September/October this year.

Copies available for purchase for $44.00. All funds will go back to the project to develop training and additional chapters for an addendum to the guide.

For more information on the guide or the Improved Services Initiative, please call Fiona Reid on 9227 8122.
